OverviewThe Janet Turner Print Museum at CSU, Chico hosts the Summer Art Academy in July. Students starting at age six and up explore printmaking, ceramics, painting, drawing, collage, and more.
Younger students enjoy a wide variety of art instruction, with assignments geared toward a shorter attention span. More complex work is interspersed with fun quick activities. This enables children who work more slowly and deliberately to work alongside those who finish more quickly. Adults are also welcome to attend the Summer Art Academy.

“The mission of the Janet Turner Print Museum's Summer Art Academy is to provide excellent art instruction using many mediums for students with a desire to be immersed in art for a concentrated time,” said Barbara Morris, founder of the Summer Art Academy.
“A main goal of this academy is to keep Janet's name and ideals in the public eye,” said Morris. “Janet was first and foremost a teacher of printmaking. We wish to honor all she gave to her students and to the University by creating an environment for students to explore and increase their knowledge and skills in art, but especially in printmaking. By providing the public with this academy, we help keep Janet's vision and drive alive.”
