The Museum & Schools

School Tours

Smiling Student The Turner invites you to bring your class to the museum. We are always pleased to welcome student visitors. The Turner Museum offers class tours designed to appeal to students of various ages and grade levels. They are led by a docent and last approximately one hour. The tours and docent talks promote an appreciation and understanding of art and printmaking, from traditional to contemporary.

School groups must arrange their visits in advance by selecting a date and time from the school tours schedule and submitting an application to the Tours Coordinator. All visits are free. Unscheduled small groups are welcome to visit The Turner during regular museum hours, however a docent I may not be available. Small groups should call ahead to make a reservation, 530-898-4476.

All school groups must be accompanied by chaperons. See our Tour Procedures for more information about brining students for gallery tours.

Classroom Visits

A brief classroom visit by a Turner docent may be scheduled by contacting the Tours Coordinator. These 30-45 minute visits and discussion are designed to familiarize students with basic printmaking concepts which will broaden their knowledge and appreciation of art and the printmaking medium. It will also enhance their gallery experience when they visit the museum.
