Education & Outreach

Overview

Janet Turner had a vision that students could develop their technical skills and appreciation of fine art by directly viewing
and experiencing examples of original art. As she developed
the printmaking program at CSU, Chico she continued to collect examples of prints in a variety of techniques and imagery to demonstrate for her classes the many possibilities available to them in printmaking. She felt students could benefit from viewing
a range of artists, whojust as that exposure had increased her
own appreciation, skill, and willingness to experiment.

That collection has now grown to over 3,500 prints. Students and members of the community have the unique opportunity to view selections from the collection during regularly scheduled exhibitions in the gallery.

Educators & Schools

The Turner Museum is available to the educational community for visits and tours in conjunction with scheduled exhibitions. You may register your class for a school tour online. You may also want to explore some of the printmaking resources that we have gathered for your information or to share with your class.

Community Outreach

The Turner Museum offers the community opportunities for private study and research. In addition, The Turner Museum welcomes your participation through volunteer activities, becoming a member of the Friends of the The Turner, and/or providing financial support.

Summer Art Academy

The Janet Turner Print Museum at CSU, Chico hosts the Summer Art Academy in July. Students starting at age six and up explore printmaking, ceramics, painting, drawing, collage, and more.
